Alexandra
Alexandra grew up in Washington, D.C. and spent ten years in New York City. She got her Master’s Degree in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and was certified in Reading and Literacy from Bank Street College of Education.
She spent eight years as the head of the English Department at Jefferson Middle School in Arlington, VA. In that role, she taught reading comprehension and writing. In addition, she has tutored elementary, middle and high school students from public and private schools in the D.C. area for the past several years. She is skilled at helping children understand their strengths and challenges and how to build self-confidence while engaged in the learning process.
Alexandra encourages students to make personal connections with the text to increase reading fluency. She specializes in teaching reading, writing, organization, study and test-taking skills.
Alexandra lives with her husband and eight-year-old daughter in Adams Morgan. She spends her free time hiking and cooking.
