Denis
Originally from Hong Kong, Denis received his B.A. in Global History from Yale University in 2019. During his time there, he was a research assistant for a History Ph.D candidate for four years, and served as tutor in ESL and Chinese. He wrote his senior thesis on modern Sino-Japanese history. He has also tutored English Writing and Literature for three years to students in middle and high school. He has extensive experience working with children, having spent multiple summers volunteering in social service centres and orphanages.
Denis speaks four languages fluently and is an aspiring educator and musician. In his teaching approach, he emphasises creativity, independent thinking and deep mastery of the subject. He is excited to share his knowledge and expertise in English, Essay Writing and History to students in D.C. He finds the tutoring experience deeply rewarding, and is constantly challenged and impressed by his students’ capacity for learning and desire to improve.
In his spare time, Denis enjoys reading, playing pickup soccer and going to his favourite musicians’ live performances.
