Everton
A California native, Everton earned a BA in Narrative Studies--an interdisciplinary exploration of storytelling across cultures and media--from the University of Southern California. While at USC, Everton served as a Team Leader for three years in an AmeriCorps program called Jumpstart, which placed him in local preschools to implement high-quality literacy, art, science, and theater activities with 4- and 5-year-old students. During undergrad, Everton also volunteered as a teacher through Joint Educational Project, teaching an introductory Italian course to 2nd graders and a civics course to 5th graders.
After graduating from USC, Everton taught 4th grade full-time as a co-teacher at Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton and tutored middle school students in English and executive functioning skills. He then accepted a full-tuition merit scholarship to Stanford University, where he recently completed his Master of Arts in Education, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (K - 6), and Additional Authorization in Literature (K - postgrad). As a Stanford Teaching Fellow, Everton had the opportunity to co-teach in 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade over the course of the year.
Everton is passionate about sharing his enthusiasm and love of learning with his students. He believes that the world is endlessly fascinating, and he enjoys nurturing children's natural curiosity and hunger for knowledge. Leading with energy and warmth, Everton is committed to honing students' strengths and facilitating growth in areas that challenge them.
Besides education, Everton's interests include creative writing, entrepreneurship, political science, philosophy, architecture, and history. He moved to Washington, D.C. in June of 2020 and is excited to explore the inspiring variety of sites in the area!
