Jaymit

Jaymit has a degree in Communication Studies from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. Following his graduation, Jaymit moved to Washington, D.C. in January of 2018. Jaymit is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Communication at Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs with a Concentration in Public and Media Relations. During his undergraduate career, Jaymit became a firm believer in the educational process and its power to alleviate adversity. Thus, his experiences began to reflect this belief: He served as an Orientation Leader for two years, taught two freshman-level introductory courses, and helped to start a speech lab on his campus, ultimately influencing over 1,000 students through his teaching and his work.

Jaymit has over seven years of tutoring and teaching experience with students of all backgrounds between the ages of 6 and 34. Through these experiences, Jaymit came to appreciate that teaching is a privilege. He teaches math, reading, writing skills, English, test prep (ACT/SAT/PSAT), intermediate Spanish, study skills, and college prep.

As an instructor, Jaymit brings a sense of intercultural competence and perspective to all his interactions due to his fluency in four languages and his own sense of multicultural identity. His patience and positive attitude have led to productive relationships with students. Jaymit is particularly interested in understanding the positions of others and believes in empathizing with his students. In Jaymit’s humble opinion, the path to self-sufficiency in any student’s case begins with their discovery of “why” they do what they do.

In his free time, Jaymit loves reading, finding new places to eat in D.C., spending time with friends and family, and watching sports.
