Julia

Julia has taught an array of English classes at the secondary level for over 23 years full-time, from AP English literature in both public and private schools in the Metropolitan Washington, DC area to English as a Second Language in two local colleges and in Siberia.

She holds degrees from the University of Virginia and the University of Richmond and has done graduate work in British Literature at Oxford, for “the ambiance as much as the substance”, she says. Her passion for British literature and teaching was first ignited by her high school Senior English teacher. Julia is certified in Secondary English and ESL and in teaching AP Literature and AP Language. She considers herself a lifelong learner both formally and informally.

Julia also worked as an editor and writer in Congress for roughly seven years but returned to her first love, teaching, when her daughter was a toddler.

She, an avid reader, has published a poetry collection and is working on her first novel currently. She loves to travel and trade houses, and hopes to return to Siberia at some point both to teach and to explore it more.
