Maria Carmen

Mrs. Maria Carmen is a Mexico City native who has lived in the Washington, D.C. area since 1996. She is the proud mother of two sons who are now living their independent lives. She believes that her experience as a teacher has transformed her into a more understanding and creative educator, as well as a better learner.

Mrs. Maria Carmen has been teaching the Spanish language for 16 years in public and private schools in Maryland. She holds a B.S. in Economics from The Anahuac University and a Bilingual Teacher Diploma from The Anglo Continental School.  She has also taken relevant courses at The Schools Attuned Institute, The Summer Institute for the Teaching of World Languages, Schools Attuned and Responsive Classroom.  This past spring, she took a 95-hour Montgomery child care course. She is currently working on earning her Development Associate credentials.

Mrs. Maria Carmen believes that both children and adults learn better when they engage all of their senses, and that they learn by doing. For this reason, she teaches across the curriculum and uses hands-on experiences to help students grasp new concepts.

When not teaching, Mrs. Maria Carmen enjoys spending time with her family, reading, baking and exercising with her dogs.
