Shea

Shea is currently a first grade teacher at a charter school in NW D.C. In her six years of teaching, she has taught two years of pre-k, two years of kindergarten and two years of first grade. Shea graduated from Virginia Tech majoring in Human Development (Child and Adolescent Track) and minoring in Psychology in 2014. She earned her Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University in 2016.

Shea is inspired by her students each day and loves to see their excitement for learning. She believes in the importance of making learning fun and engaging, especially for young students. Since she has taught three different grade levels and worked with students that have many different learning abilities, she has a wide range of skill sets to teach young students. She understands how important it is that young students are able to learn with a positive teacher/mentor that uses their strengths when working on new or more difficult skills.

When Shea is not teaching or tutoring, she loves to work out, travel and spend time with her family. While earning her undergraduate degree, Shea spent a semester abroad in Florence, Italy and was able to spend long weekends traveling around Europe. During this time abroad, her love of travel grew and she looks forward to visiting new places each year.
