Taite
Originally from Denver, Colorado, Taite is a recent graduate from Middlebury College with a joint B.A. in Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies and History of Art. While at Middlebury, Taite pursued opportunities to work with students of a variety of ages, spending one semester working in a local daycare/preschool and one summer teaching middle school biology and art in Brooklyn. Taite also took several courses in Middlebury's Education Department, including classes focused on inclusive education and culturally responsive pedagogy.
Taite knew she wanted to be a teacher after working full-time as a paraprofessional at a public elementary school in Denver for a semester before beginning college. While there, Taite helped teachers with classroom management and spent significant time one-on-one with various students. Forming bonds with students and watching them grow was a rewarding and life-changing experience that emphasized the importance of compassionate and understanding teachers. In summer 2021, Taite will be starting the Urban Teachers program in Washington, D.C., in which she will be a candidate for an M.S. in Education from Johns Hopkins and will become licensed to teach either Elementary Education or Secondary English.
In her free time, Taite enjoys reading, painting, hiking, and playing with her kitten.
